To the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office,
I am the father of Thomas Rettew. My name is Samuel Wilson. I’m writing this letter because of the article in the Times-News regarding his death. I believe your jail is at fault because of the negligence and under-staffing. Because of that my stepson lost his life at 38 years old. Since you will not return my phone calls and the district attorney refuses to comment on the matter. The citizens of the Mini-Cassia area want to know what is being done with the guards that were there that night. How to keep another incident like this from happening? The inmates are not animals, they are people. It just goes to show that the Mini-Cassia Justice Center needs to be more closely monitored. The County of Mini-Cassia wants to know are the citizens safe when they go to jail? To the citizens of Mini-Cassia we would like your input. I also believe that the jail needs more medically trained staff. What if it was your son, father, or brother?
I believe that the wrongdoing that goes on in the justice system needs to come to a stop. If there wasn’t any wrongdoing on the counties part then why have we, the family, waited so long for answers? The corporals dropped the ball on this tragedy.
P.S. No heroin was found in his system like we were told.
