As you may know, the Cassia County Education Association has filed a grievance against the Cassia County School District over the decision terminate 60 custodial and maintenance workers and violations of open meetings laws. We know that continuity of staff, both certified and classified, is beneficial to student welfare and to the community. Idaho codes, including those relating to open meetings, are there for a reason and should not be viewed as optional by any public entity.

The next school board meeting is this Thursday, June 20, beginning at 5:00. We expect a large turnout from the local association and the community, despite the fact that the board has indicated they will only take public comment from six people. The CCEA and the 60 employees impacted by the district's actions would appreciate any coverage you can provide in advance of the meeting and/or of the meeting itself. Please let us know if we can answer any questions or assist you with coverage of this important story.

Best,

Dave Harbison
