Jay Ralph Hamilton, 42 of Rupert passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2013. His mission on earth has ended and his mission in heaven has just begun.
Jay was born July 22, 1970 to Blaine and Phyllis (Ericksen) Hamilton. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and lived in Vernal, Utah on his family’s ranch which he had fond memories of. He moved with his family to Declo, Idaho in 1983. He married Monica Bingham September 2, 1994 in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. Jay and Monica and their family resided in Rupert, ID but also loved spending much time with their children in Freedom, ID where his joy will forever be.
Jay worked for Ed Elliot Farms, Dalry Electric, Home Sweet Homes, Haderlie Outfitters and Hamilton Outfitters. He is a member of the LDS church where he served a mission in Barcelona, Spain and Raleigh, North Carolina. Jay served in various positions that included the Elders Quorum, Young Men’s, Scouting, and Stake sports programs. He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Rifle Association, and board member of the Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association for eight years. He is a talented poet, gifted hunter and outdoorsman, true horseman and cowboy, and all around hard worker, especially with his family. Jay is a talented athlete and shared that by coaching many. Jay was, is, and forever will be a devoted and caring husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He exemplified that by the quality time he spent loving and teaching everyone. Jay is a son of his father in Heaven and served him faithfully.
Jay is preceded in death by his Grandparents Clarence and Mary Ericksen and Ralph and Cora Hamilton. He is survived by his parents Blaine and Phyllis Hamilton, his In-Laws Merell and Janet Bingham, wife Monica (Bingham) Hamilton of 18 beautiful years and children Cody Jay Hamilton, Kelsie Rose Hamilton, Jason Ralph Hamilton, Garrett Max Hamilton, and Sidney McCora Hamilton. A brother Cary (Cherie) Hamilton of Rupert, ID., brother James “Jim” (Stephanie) Hamilton of Declo, ID., and a sister Katherine (Ryan) Hamilton Edwards of Declo, ID., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jay Hamilton Memorial at Idaho Central Credit Union. The family would like to add a special thanks for all the prayers, service and love to Jay and his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Declo LDS Church 213 West Main Street Declo, ID. Viewing for family and friends will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 also at the church and one hour prior to services. Services will conclude with burial in the Declo Cemetery under the direction of Joel Heward at Hansen Mortuary.
