BURLEY - Christopher James Paskett, age 18, of Burley is going to change his plea to 'guilty' on February 18, 2011 at Cassia County District Court.
Paskett had previously pled not guilty to various Felony charges he was facing. The charges stem from three separate arrest dates: On May 25, 2010, Paskett was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and for Theft by Receiving, Possessing, or Disposing of Stolen Property. Then as a result of an ongoing investigation into some area burglaries, an arrest warrant was issued on December 21, 2010, and Paskett was additionally charged with three counts of Burglary. He was then apprehended at Mr. Gas on December 27, 2010, where he denied being Christopher Paskett. The officer recognized Paskett and placed him under arrest after a struggle ensued.
Paskett was consequently charged with Resisting Arrest, Giving False Information to a Police Officer, and for Possession of a Controlled Substance when drugs were later found on his person.
It is not known if a plea bargain was agreed upon for the change in plea, but due to Paskett's history of drug abuse, he may receive Drug Court deferrement over serving jail time.
