Winn Hired as Athletic Director at BHS

Burley High school hired Randy Winn to serve as Athletic Director starting August 1, 2019. Randy is new to education, but not to the world of athletics. Principal Levi Power explains, “we are very excited about Randy joining our team. He brings great experience that we feel will take BHS Athletics to the next level.”

Winn is the former owner of Tires West, Les Schwab of Burley. He received an accounting degree from the University of Utah. A referee since 1992, he is currently the District 4 basketball referee commissioner. He and his wife and two daughters are residents of Burley.

The change comes at the retirement of long time educator and athletic director, Gordon Kerbs. While an educator for 34 years, Kerbs has served as AD for 12 years.

Winn is excited about this opportunity noting that, “it’s important to make all teams and sports successful. It’s not just about those revenue generating sports. All student athletes deserve support and attention.”

His goals are to continue to build upon the strong traditions in the community, improve where needed and contribute to the success of student athletes. He says, “it’s an honor to be able to work side by side with parents, coaches and athletes at Burley High School.”

Principal Power adds, “Randy has an outstanding reputation in the community, as well as, a great knowledge of how high school athletics operate.”

Winn will serve as a full time AD and was selected after a formal hiring and interview process that considered twelve total applicants.
