Mountain View Christian Center Church Pantry is please to announce the pantry was awarded the 2020 Mini-Cassia Association of Realtors Golf Scramble Grant. This grant of $4180.00 will be applied towards a better box truck which will be used in retrieving rescue food from Walmart, Smith’s, DOT Food Inc, McCain Food Inc. South Central Community Action in Twin Falls, and the Idaho Food Bank in Boise, Idaho.
With the monetary and food donations which the pantry has received, the pantry has been able to provide free food to the many individuals who have become food insecure because of examples like COVID19, many health reasons, or grandparents now raising their grandchildren. Food donation must be commercially prepared canned food products except with the growing of individual gardens and the starting of Farmers Markets, the pantry will accept excess vegetables. Mountain View Christian Center Church Pantry also has a Senior Program which helps feed food insecure senior citizens. To become eligible for any of the programs at Mountain View Christian Center Church, the food insecure individual must come to the pantry and while remaining in a car the individual can registered for the free food. For this registration the individual will need to bring a valid Idaho driver’s license or Idaho ID, an electric bill, telephone bill, or rent receipt which has a current address and proof of income.
The pantry is located at 317 Mountain View Lane which is adjacent to Mountain View Elementary School on 27th street in Burley. The pantry is open Tuesdays starting at 4 PM and Fridays starting at 9 AM.
All recipients must remain in their car and the volunteers will get them registered. Then the food will be placed in the trunk of their car so please have an empty trunk.
The pantry presently has two needs. One need is more food donations which can be given to food insecure families. The second need is a more reliable and larger commercial freezer.
